Raw #220 – January, Week #4

We start the show with Vince Russo in the ring. Russo: “Last week, the first 5 participants were selected for the Men’s Royal Rumble and I would have had all 10 announced if it wasn't for the interruption. But, I’ve changed my mind on who will be in the Royal Rumble. The final 5 spots will be open to anyone that wants them. You’ll just have to qualify for the spot first. So, we’re going to have 5 matches tonight to determine the final 5 competitors going into the Royal Rumble. I haven’t forgotten about the Women’s Royal Rumble either. After making a few phone calls and sending out a few emails, the 10 women that will represent Raw are: Torrie Wilson, Kelly Kelly, Stacy Kiebler, Kimberly Page, Major Gunns, Shaniqua, Bull Nakano, Madusa, Ryan Shamrock, and Sharmell. I hope you ladies represent Raw to its fullest.”
Max Moon vs. Santino Marella (Men’s Royal Rumble Qualifier)
The bell rings and Moon flies across the ring, hitting Santino with a stiff dropkick sending him into the corner. Moon forces Santino to his feet and hits a DDT. Moon tries to make a quick cover but Santino kicks out at a 2 count. Moon forces Santino to his feet again and tries for another DDT. Santino reverses the DDT into a back body drop. Santino reaches into his tights and pulls out The Cobra. He slides it on his hand and as Max Moon is getting to his feet, Santino hits The Cobra. Santino makes the cover, 1…2…3.
Winner: Santino Marella
Mosh vs. Pete Gas (Men’s Royal Rumble Qualifier)
As Pete Gas makes his way to the ring, Thrasher jumps the barricade and smashes Gas across the head with a hard chair shot. Thrasher rolls Gas into the ring. Gas manages to get to his feet with blood running down his face. The ref asked Gas if he can continue and he nods his head yes the ref calls for the bell. As soon as the bell rings, Mosh connects with a jumping enzuigiri, dropping Pete Gas to the mat. Mosh climbs up top and hits The Mosh Pit (Diving Sitting Senton). Mosh goes for the cover, 1…2… but Gas somehow manages to kick out at a close three count. Mosh forces Gas to his feet and whips him into the corner and follows up with a running knee to the gut. Mosh connects with a Brainbuster and climbs up top and connects with another Mosh Pit and goes for the cover, 1…2…3.
Winner: Mosh
D’Lo Brown vs. Virgil (Men’s Royal Rumble Qualifier)
As D’Lo makes his way to the ring, Virgil comes running down from the back and attacks him. Virgil throws D’Lo into the steps, sending him flying over them. Virgil picks D’Lo up and rolls him in the ring. D’Lo manages to somehow get to his feet and the ref calls for the match to start. The pre-match beating has had some effect on D’Lo who seems off of his game. Virgil hits a Superkick and it stuns D’Lo. Virgil follows up with The Million Dollar Dream. D’Lo makes his way to the ropes but before he can grab the ropes, Virgil pulls him back to the centre of the ring. D’Lo goes limp in the middle of the ring. The ref checks on D’Lo then calls for the bell.
Winner: Virgil
Spike Dudley vs. Nailz (Men’s Royal Rumble Qualifier)
As soon as the bell rings, Spike rushes Nailz but Nailz gets his foot up and connects with a Big Boot, nearly taking of Spike’s head. Nailz forces Spike up by his head and locks in the Sleeper Hold. Spike is lifted off the ground and goes out like a light.
Winner: Nailz
Essa Rios vs. Repo Man (Men’s Royal Rumble Qualifier)
The bell rings and Essa goes crazy. He runs across the ring and hits a jumping DDT. Essa picks Repo Man up. Repo catches Essa Rios in the gut with a knee. Repo picks Essa up and hits a snap suplex then follows that up with an elbow drop. Essa uses the ropes go get to his feet. Repo uses this to go for a clothesline. Essa is ready for it and pulls down the top rope and Repo flips over it to the outside. Essa comes off the ropes and hits a suicide dive on Repo. Essa picks Repo up and forces him back first into the ring apron. Essa pulls him back and slams him back in a second time. Essa gets up on the apron and lands a Moonsault onto Repo on the outside. Essa picks Repo up and rolls him into the ring. Essa climbs up top and connects with the Moonsault and sticks the cover, 1…2…3.
Winner: Essa Rios
