Smackdown #229 – March, Week #4

[John Greatrix]

John Greatrix’s music and he comes out to the stage with a mic. Greatrix: “Tonight, we are just under 2 weeks away from Wrestlemania. At the event in Toronto, I will go one-on-one with ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ Drew McIntyre. Well Drew, I hope you can channel your true inner psychopathic tendencies because you’re going to need it. You’re going to need that aggression and rage. But before that, you will wrestle tonight. In fact, Commissioner William Regal has decided that both Drew and myself, as well as Andrade Almas and Finn Balor, will compete in single matches before the PPV.”

Andrade Cien Almas w/Zelina Vega vs. Dean Ambrose
These two men go back-and-forth for 20 solid minutes. Ambrose hits The Lunatic Lariat and looks to get the win but Zelina puts Andrade’s foot on the bottom rope. Ambrose chases after Zelina. Zelina leads Ambrose around and back into the ring. As Ambrose gets to his feet, Andrade connects with a Feint Front Kick into a Back Elbow that stuns Ambrose. Andrade hits La Sombra (Hammerlock DDT) and goes for the pin, 1...2...3.
Winner: Andrade Cien Almas

Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Roode
Roode seems to have caught McIntyre off guard and has had the upper hand early and for 10 minutes. Roode hits a Blockbuster and goes for the cover but only gets a 2 count. Roode hits a Spinebuster and locks in a Crossface. McIntyre gets to the ropes to break the hold. Both men are up and McIntyre hits a Big Boot. McIntyre hits The Celtic Cross (White Noise) and goes for a pin but only gets a 2 count. When both men are to their feet again, Roode hits the ropes and gets caught with The Glasgow Kiss (Headbutt). Roode is stunned as McIntyre hits The Claymore Kick and lays Roode out. McIntyre covers Roode, 1...2...3.
Winner: Drew McIntyre

We go backstage to Charly Caruso with Tessa Blanchard. Charly: “Tessa, Kelly Khaos has accepted your challenge and had some harsh words for you on Nitro. How do you respond?” Tessa: “Charly, Kelly Khaos can say what she wants but until she actually gets in the ring with me, nobody can take her seriously. She walks around on Nitro and beats a bunch of nobodies, but when we finally meet, we’ll see what she truly has.”

Finn Balor vs. Elias
This match is a lot quicker than anyone expected. The bell rings and Balor hits a Sling Blade right away. Balor waits for Elias to get to his feet and hits a Shotgun Dropkick and goes to the top rope. Balor hits The Coup de Grace and goes for the pin, 1...2...3.
Winner: Finn Balor

John Greatrix vs. Rob Van Dam
Greatrix starts the match with a huge flurry of moves. Greatrix is looking to end this match quickly. Greatrix hits a Bicycle Knee Strike followed by a Gargoyle Suplex. Greatrix goes for a cover but only gets a 2 count. Greatrix picks up Van Dam and hits The Greatrixer and locks in an Anaconda Vice. Van Dam struggles and makes it to the ropes. After 15 more minutes of back-and-forth, Van Dam hits a Superkick. Van Dam hits a Standing Hurricanrana and has fired up the crowd. Van Dam hits the Rolling Thunder then goes to the top rope. Van Dam sets up and goes for The Five-Star Frog Splash. Greatrix gets his knees up and locks in a small package but Van Dam kicks out at 2. Both men are up and Greatrix hits The Johnnie Kick out of nowhere and goes for the pin, 1...2...3.
Winner: John Greatrix

After the match, Drew McIntyre slides in the ring and starts trading punches with Greatrix. Andrade Almas rushes to the ring and attacks McIntyre from behind. Greatrix and Almas beat down McIntyre until Finn Balor runs to the ring and chases off the two men. Greatrix and Almas are on the ramp, yelling at Balor and McIntyre when William Regal’s music hits and he comes out to the stage with a mic. Regal: “You four men clearly have some issues. Next week, John Greatrix and Andrade Almas will take on Drew McIntyre and Finn Balor.” The four men start yelling at each other again as the cameras fade out and the show ends.
