Raw #144 - August, Week #2

Post  John Greatrix on Tue Aug 08, 2017 9:37 pm

We start the show with Oyster and Edge in the ring. Oyster: “Last week, The Bullet Club made very clear what their intentions are. We are going to have a number one contender match tonight if they like it or not. You see Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and Back Luck Fale, it’s simple. If any of the three of you step a single foot out on the ramp tonight, you can consider yourselves fired.” Edge: “Tonight, we will crown a new number one contender for the Cruiserweight Championship. Also tonight, Becky Lynch will go one-on-one with Sarah Logan. Now, let’s get this show started.”

John Greed (c) vs. Rob Van Dam (Hardcore Title Match)
As soon as the bell rings, RVD and Greed lock up. Greed overpowers RVD and shoves him back sending RVD to the ground. RVD gets back up and hits several kicks to Greed. RVD springs off the ropes and goes for a kick but Greed sidesteps him and catches RVD with a devastating clothesline. RVD rolls out of the ring to catch his breath. Greed gives it a second look and dives through the ropes connecting with a Suicide Dive through the middle rope. Greed reaches under the ring and pulls out a chair and starts beating RVD with it. RVD manages to fight Greed off and gets back in the ring. Greed is up on the apron and climbs back into the ring. When RVD runs at him, Greed throws the chair at RVD, catching him in the face taking RVD off his feet. Greed climbs up to the top rope and hits the Frog Splash and goes for the cover, 1…2…3.
Winner and STILL Hardcore Champion: John Greed

After the match, Greed is making his way up the ramp and Abyss walks out from the back holding a barbed wire baseball bat. Greed and Abyss stand face-to-face mouthing off when Abyss pulls back and swings the bat. Greed ducks under the bat and connects with a right hand. Greed lands a few more punches, staggering Abyss. Greed picks his belt up off the ground and plants it across the head of Abyss, dropping him to the ground. Greed places a foot on Abyss’ chest and holds the title high in the air while we go to a commercial break.

We come back from commercial break to Renee Young. Renee: “I’m here tonight with Mike Bennett. Mike, how are you feeling?” Mike: “Well Renee, a lot better. Our wounds are healed and we’re out looking for blood. Oyster may think he’s won the war but it was only a battle. You better watch your back because The Kingdom is looking for blood and you and your goons are not safe.”

Becky Lynch vs. Sarah Logan
As soon as the bell rings, Lynch rushes across the ring tackling Logan to the ground and starts punching her. Logan manages to block a few punches and gets Lynch off her. Both women get to their feet and Lynch rushes in again and gets hold of Logan’s arm. Lynch tries to drag Logan to the ground for The Dis-Arm-Her but Logan manages to push Lynch off and connects with a dropkick. Logan picks Lynch up and hits her with a stiff headbutt causing Lynch to stagger backwards. Logan follows it up with a swinging neckbreaker. Logan picks Lynch up and she goes for The Dis-Arm-Her the second time but this time Logan reverses it with a jumping knee to the face. Logan goes up to the top rope and goes for the Split-Legged Moonsault but Lynch gets her knees up and as soon as Logan hits the mat, Lynch locks in The Dis-Arm-Her. Logan tries to fight out of it but it’s no use. Logan taps out in the middle of the ring.
Winner: Becky Lynch

Jack Gallagher vs. Neville
The bell rings and we’ve got a match of the year candidate on our hands. After an amazing 20 minutes of great back-and-forth wrestling. Neville finally inches out ahead of Gallagher after blocking The Gentleman’s Dropkick by booting Gallagher in the face with a stiff kick. Neville goes up the top rope and looks for The Red Arrow but Gallagher is quick to his feet and pulls Neville's feet out from under him, dropping him on the top rope. Gallagher climbs up and hits a Superplex. Both men lay in the middle of the ring catching their breath while the ref starts the ten count, 1…2…3…4…5…6…7. Neville is the first to get to his feet. Neville slowly climbs up to the top rope and calls for The Red Arrow again. Just before Neville can launch himself off, Tama Tonga jumps the barricade and pushes Neville off the top rope to the outside. Tama picks Neville up and Powerbombs him through the announce table.
Winner by Disqualification: Neville

As Gallagher is getting to his feet, Tanga Roa slides into the ring and hits a running knee that drops Gallagher to the mat. Tanga picks up Gallagher and The Guerrillas of Destiny hit The Guerrilla Warfare (Assisted Double Underhook DDT) laying Gallagher out in the ring. The Gorillas of Destiny stand strong in the ring as we go off the air.
